Fitness Instructor Profile- Lee Nowlan

LEE NOWLAN — Instructor — Total Body Conditioning & Run & Train for a 5K

Lee has worked in fitness and nutrition in Canada and the United States for more than twenty five years with clients from 6 to 86.  Clients include weekend warriors; grapefruit diet refugees, competitive athletes, law enforcement and individuals facing unique challenges from injury or disease.

A former US Reebok Trainer, Lee holds multiple licenses and certifications including Group Exercise, Personal Training, and Weight Management/Functional Nutrition.  She has worked extensively with some of sports medicine’s leading doctors and facilities providing various specialized services in functional assessment and programming including Pilates and Yoga.  Lee is one of Canada’s Technical Officials to the International Triathlon Union.

She was a competitive athlete at a very young age and began weight lifting at the age of 10 for rehabilitation and conditioning.   She started teaching aerobics when it became a thing during University days.  A serious accident in 1985, led her to become increasingly focused on functional and neuromuscular training as well as nutrition for pain management.

Lee joined the JPRA Fitness Program last fall teaching the Monday evening class. She coaches and teaches participants about functional awareness, technique, flexibility and strength and energy management.  Her classes are designed to respond to all participant’s needs and expectations so everyone can get the most out of their class.

Monday’s TBC class is open to all levels of experience and fitness and is based on Interval Training class designs including Tabata and Circuit and making use of all the great toys at JPRA such as the weights, bars, balls and ladders!

Lee also coaches the Run & Train for a 5K course which is based on the Galloway Run Walk Run method for ANYONE including beginners, returnees to running/fitness, experienced athletes who need to improve running or walking habits that have caused injury or lack of enjoyment.  Running has numerous health benefits and this course is designed to give ANYONE the tools to participate.

Her favourite post-workout meal: salad with roast beef and mixed vegetables.
